OT Home Builder's Scholarship Opportunity |
AOTA, NAHB, and AARP have collaborated on a national effort to inform our members of the value of home modifications to help individuals age in place safely and comfortably and the need for occupational therapy and building professionals to collaborate for better outcomes. AARP has generously provided AOTA with 10 scholarship opportunities for occupational therapists interested in completing the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)’s Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) I and II courses that will be offered at AARP’s headquarters in Washington DC on June 10th and 11th. This includes breakfast, lunch and all course materials, but does not include any travel or other expenses. If you are interested in one of these scholarships and intend to engage in part time or full time work in home modifications, contact Karen Smith at AOTA

School Based Practitioners |
The IOTA Board welcomed School Practitioners as an official special committee. Co-chair persons include Deb Edwards of Ft. Wayne, Colleen Renie of Indianapolis, and Linda Kinkade of Evansville. The trio of chair persons will unify the group in southern, central and northern regions for in-person meetings. Efforts are also stretched to participate in district meetings as a means of networking in person, at least with special events such as the computer lab training that is being planned for the Central District June meeting. |
