SCOTS The
SCOTS of the IOTA are a group of networking school practitioners. The
group currently shares information online via a Yahoo! group page, but
also is making efforts to participate in IOTA district meetings. Now
that Indiana requires continuing education units for maintaining state
licensure, district meetings will be optimal avenues for networking in
order to receive economical Continuing Education Units. The Co-Chairs
are developing plans for online collaborations so that members can
attend a virtual meeting from anywhere in the state. Keep September
2009 in mind forthe first of this type of event.

Electronic networking is currently through the Yahoo! group page OTsTogether4KidsIN, IndianaSchoolOccupational Therapists.
The Yahoo! group page is essential in the network for several reasons:
- All Members can go to the group page 24/7 to participate and watch messages, much like the AOTA OT Connections options.
- All Members can postdocuments in Word or PDF formats.
- All Members can post pictures for private use of this forum.
- Questions specific to Indiana can be asked and discussed in private forum.
- Member list enables all members to access another specialist individually for further discussion.
- All Members can shareresource links by posting them to the site.
- The menus are easier to use than ICAN (the Indiana State database for setting up Individualized Education Plans).
- And, the networking for the co-chair is fluent since all three chair are moderators on the group page.
The
group is co-chaired by Deb Edwards of Ft. Wayne, Colleen Renie of
Indianapolis, and Linda Kinkade of Evansville. The trio of chair
persons will unify the group in southern, central and northern regions
for in-person meetings.
