“Fun” back into Function: Cognitive Strategies and Practical Applications for ADL/IADL skills in Children and Youth

Description: In pediatrics, caregivers and clients often identify independence in dressing, feeding, self-care, hygiene, and basic home management as outcomes of occupational therapy service. This workshop will review evidence-based strategies to improve independence and function through practical applications, real-life case examples, and opportunities for problem solving. Strategies include cognitive approaches, motor-learning techniques, and fun assistive technology, preparatory activities, and modifications. Participants will have opportunities for questions, discussion, and time to apply strategies. After attending this workshop, participants will leave with new ways of understanding common barriers to ADL/IADL independence and several ready-to-use interventions and activities to apply in practice.

Please RSVP to [email protected] by May 8th in order to receive the GoToMeeting link.
