Join the Mental Health SIS on Wednesday, July 9th from 7-9pm EST for Integrating Occupational Therapy Practice into a Community- Based Mobile Crisis Team.

In this presentation, we will explore mental health crisis responders’ perspectives of how occupational therapy practitioners could be integrated into a community-based mobile crisis team. We will provide a brief overview of a community-based behavioral healthcare agency and that agency’s development of a mobile crisis program. Finally, we will offer a case study to illustrate the creation of a crisis plan through an occupation-based lens and identify barriers and considerations to the integration of occupational therapy practice in this setting.

Bio: Amanda is an occupational therapy practitioner and outreach team leader at Trilogy Behavioral Healthcare, where she has worked for the previous 5 years. She is a native Chicagoan and a graduate of the occupational therapy program at Washington University in St. Louis, where she first began working with individuals in the community who have experienced homelessness and co-occurring mental health conditions. She and her colleagues previously gave this presentation in 2022 at the AOTA Mental Health specialty conference. Outside of her role as an OTP, she enjoys cycling, spending time with her cats, and exploring different neighborhoods and restaurants around Chicago.
